Hello There!! While the world together is suffering due to this viral attack of COVID 19, its also upon us to come out stronger to make this suffering spread lesser and help authorities to have complete control over it.
Here in this post, I am going to talk about what is a coronavirus and what necessary precaution we can take over it.
What is coronavirus (COVID 19)?
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease COVID-19. This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.

What are the symptoms of coronavirus?
The symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually at a later stage. Common symptoms like tiredness, dry cough and fever to begin with and followed by a runny nose, body aches, sore throat, nasal congestion. The symptoms get too drastic in older people and the ones with pre-medical conditions like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes.
How does it spread?
As per WHO, People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets. This is why it is important to stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick.
When should you visit the doctor or be alarmed?
The symptoms are very similar to common cold & flu hence it may get very confusing to understand if you are affected by a virus or not. If you are someone especially with the recent travel history and fell sick within 3 or 2 weeks post your travel with fever, throat pain, runny nose you should immediately seek medical attention.
What precautions should we take to against coronavirus?
The best way to protect yourself is by staying home safe and avoid going to any gathering containing lots of people. The more you will be at home the lesser your chances of contracting the virus.
- Keep 2 hands distance from a person while talking to them.
- Wash your hands as often as possible with soap and water.
- Keep a sanitizer (Alcohol-based) with you all the time when washing hands in not possible.
- Do not touch the surfaces of the commonly used area by the public.
- Avoid touching your nose, hand and mouth since that’s how the virus can enter your system.
- Sneeze using tissue, handkerchief or covering your mouth using your elbow. Dispose of the tissue in a closed bin.
